Behind The Scenes video courtesy of The Mighty Fifty
Here's a great video that our friends at The Mighty Fifty put together for us. Good times!
Poreotix- Exclusive Interview!
As we all know the dance world and its companions have quickly made their way into our hearts and homes. And being the "up and coming" crew I got the chance to ask Dumbo from Poreotix a few questions. I've also been extremely lucky to watch these guys on stage and I can say...pretty amazing! I know, I know...Jealous, much?

S: So, when and why did you start dancing?
D: I started dancing when I was 16 because I thought it was cool. It stuck with me and I really like it because it has no ending.
S: Hm, interesting. How did you guys come together as Poreotix?
D: The crew formed in December 2007. I started it in high school and I had an idea of what I wanted, so I kind of just picked it up from there.
S: What does Poreotix actually mean?
D: Popping choreography robotics.
S: About how many hours do you guys practice a day before a competition?
D: Two hours
S: Who inspires you guys the most?
D: A lot of underground funk style dancers.
S: As one of the best up and coming dance crews, what do you think makes Poreotix so great?
D: We like to bring out our humor in all our performances and make our audience laugh.
S: What are some of your goals that you guys want to accomplish in the next couple years?
D: Being able to travel about the world
S: What performance has been your favorite and why?
D: Hip hop international…Because we placed 1st in the US.
(Oh yes, a duh…)
S: What do you guys do for fun together?
D: Road trips to all the competitions, only because we’re all on different teams. So when we’re not dancing with Poreotics we’re with our other teams or in school.
S: What is your favorite part about dancing?
D: Be able to manipulate the moves to the music. Free styling is probably my favorite though. Also, taking musicality to its full ability.
Well, there you have it Poreotix fans, hot off the press, from the one and only Dumbo. Whatcha know about that... We’re all excited to see what’s in store for Poreotix in the next couple of years. Good luck to ya’ll!

Dancers Taking Over The World?
With the new year come new things, especially in the dance world. Starting January 28th America’s Best Dance Crew is coming to a TV near you. Any crew that you want to see battling it out? Will the West coast reign again or will the East coast dominate? Tune in to see what happens!
Also, launching this year as a web series, The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers will appear on youtube. The mastermind behind all
the greatness is Jon M Chu, the director of Step Up 2. The LXD is a series with the most amazing dancers, that also features
chorographers like Harry Shum (for all you Glee fans out there), Christopher Scott, and Galen Hooks. The episodes will involve
heroes and villains who have amazing powers of dance. They join forces with a back-story finally telling of how various dance
styles of the hip hop world came to be. It’ll also include live performances, instructional videos and online web community
enabling fans to learn their own moves, and interact with the making. Amazing huh? Check it out!
For all you Step Up 2 fans, Step Up 3D will be coming out summer of 2010. I know ya’ll are excited as I am! It features Harry
Shum (Again, for all you Gleeks!) and Adam G. Sevani. Look out for the trailer!
Great things in the dance world this year, can’t wait for more to come! For all you dancers out there, we all love you!

QueStyle Interview
Calling all fashionistas,
Here is a fabulous interview with Shoeture that the folks at QueStyle did! Check it out and be sure to enter the contest!
Hey Questies! For our latest QueStyle post we have some special treats for you! If you recall, we had an earlier post about Shoeture (which can be found here). Well we actually got an exclusive interview with the founder of Shoeture, Grant Hooks! Check out his answers…
QueStyle: Can you tell us a little about your inspiration behind creating shoeture?
Us: I wanted to make accessories that are different and unique. The idea started as simple charms and lacelocks, and we found that it’s actually very difficult to balance functionality with style. But after lots of iterations it evolved into the great product line we have now.
QueStyle: Shoeture works to rejuvenate the classic look of sneakers. How do you think that translates into our communities?
Us: The fundamental ideas behind Shoeture connect with our community in many ways.
Probably the most important being that Shoeture helps you ‘love your sneakers again’ -it brings back that excitement and joy of having a new pair of shoes.
Given the economic times, it’s nice to be able to revitalize your favorite oldies and pretty much recycle them instead of buying a whole new pair. This the idea of creatively reusing what we have resonates in our communities.
QueStyle: What qualities do you think make Quest Crew and Shoeture a sensible fit?
Us: First, Quest Crew has a fan base that’s fashion forward with their own stand-out style. Second, the guys (Quest) are each artists in their own sense, and aren’t afraid to share that with the world. Third, Quest is awesome! What better fit with Shoeture could there be!? =)
QueStyle: Would you design a specific Quest Crew shoeture line, as you have done for Beat Freaks?
Us: Yes definitely! We’re very interested in creating some custom Quest pieces and getting the guys involved in the design process. The custom designs will probably be a limited run which will make ‘em even that much more special.
QueStyle: What has been your favorite memory since starting Shoeture in 2008?
Us: My favorite memories are simply hearing from friends saying “hey I saw somebody wearing Shoeture the other day”. It’s exciting hearing that people actually love our products as much as I do.
QueStyle: Where do you hope to see Shoeture progressing in the next few years?
Us: We hope to get more exposure in the entertainment world and help promote the dance community at the same time. We’ve gotten so much support from our dance industry friends, we need to return the favor as our fanbase and distribution grows. Limited edition pieces, guest artist designs, gemstone encrusted bars, they’re all in the works.
QueStyle: If you were to move onto different accessories, where do you think you would go?
Us: People that wear Shoeture enjoy unique style, so anything we can do along those lines would fly. Custom sneakers, rings, even tees would be fun. But we’d always keep in touch with our fundamental “shoe couture”.
QueStyle: What do you love about Quest Crew?
Us: Well Quest symbolizes a lot of great qualities that Shoeture is always striving for: unique style, artistic freedom, and respect
within the community. We’re constantly trying to find new ways to give back to our fans, and Quest does just that.
In addition to answering our Questions, Grant has graciously donated 2 sets of SHOETURE for us to give away on the site! So now it’s YOUR time to show us how much you want to love your sneakers again!
